Sheffield has many sub-districts, and Sharrow is one of these located in the south western area of the city centre. There are also what are called “wards” in the city, and Sharrow falls under the Broomhill “ward”.
During the late 1990’s, the Sheffield economy began a comeback, and during this time Sharrow was invested in quite heavily, with better housing and small business enterprise schemes from Sheffield United.
It is on of the most diverse areas in the Sheffield city centre according to the census of 2001. The Sharrow Festival is designed to celebrate this multi-culturalism, which is held every year showcasing local talent and art.
