This famous teaching hospital located in the centre of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England is very close to the University of Sheffield campus. It is also located next to Glossop Road, and the Collegiate Crescent Sheffield Hallam campus.

The main hospital is run by the NHS teaching trust, who also run the Northern General Hospital, which is the largest in Sheffield. Another close by landmark is the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, and the Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

The original building was designed by Adams, Holden and Pearson in 1978, with the main building shaped like the letter T. There are three main interlinking buildings, with a large 21 storey main building, containing 14 operating theatres. The Jessop Wing is one of the more recent openings, being opened by Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire in 2000.
