Ponds Forge is a very popular fitness and swimming pool centre located in Sheffield close the the central tram stop. It includes an olympic sized swimming pool, and also a seating stand for 2,600 people to enjoy. The swimming area also has water slides, and children / family friendly pools.
It was originally designed by FaulknerBrowns, and was finally finished in 1991 for the Summer Universiade (hosted by Sheffield in that year). The name “Ponds Forge” was inherited from the steel works that used to lie on the same site. It is also located next to the river Sheaf, which runs through the centre of Sheffield.
